Offense is Defense

Offense is Defense

People think the devil just comes and says, “Here, get offended,” but what people don’t understand is that offense is something that is already living inside of you. There’s nothing to be offended about when you have nothing to defend, and the only thing that we could possibly want to defend is our flesh, our selves.

It’s our wounds, pasts, thoughts, mindsets, dreams, aspirations, desires, everything that we have come up with or held onto on our own apart from God. And we get offended because our heart is still reliant on whatever part of our flesh we are holding on to. Then we defend our own heart and mind. There’s nothing to defend when you’re dead, and when you’re alive in Him through the Truth, you’re no longer yours. You’re His. Now He is supposed to defend you! When you’re dead, it means you don’t think for yourself anymore. You don’t do it in your own ability anymore. Now everything is by His enablement! And when you live by His ability, there is nothing to defend because it’s God. Let the only thing left in us be Him!

We think something is supposed to be this way, and someone thinks it should be the opposite. There is the door to offense. We have had issues with a parent in the past that we hold anger towards. Then someone starts acting like that parent that we have anger towards. All of a sudden, offense! Now we want to defend that wound we have again.

Why do I get offended all the time? Because you’re not dead yet! There’s still more inside your heart and mind that has to be crucified on that cross! There are some people that you notice who rarely get offended. Why? Because they are dying to their own thoughts and ways and drinking the cup of God’s mind!

Nobody can lie. We all have a level of flesh in us still whether we admit it or not. Though this holds the difference: Who is going to walk in humility and be willing to give up whatever needs to die? And who is going to rely on their own understanding and live by what they think God wants for them?

Many are becoming vessels full of offense. And on top of that, full of pride. Those who will hold a heart that says I need Truth more than anything, I need the Words of life from Heaven more than food on earth, those will be filled with His scrolls, and in the process watch their flesh be buried in the grave.

“I am seeking the truth!” Yes, but which truth? Because you get offended every time the Truth is spoken! The Bible says that we should rejoice at the Truth, but every time you hear, it grieves and puts you in a bad place. So what’s the deal? How do you stop getting offended? You need to go back to kindergarten and forget everything you think you know because you don’t really know it! Everything you think you should do, you shouldn’t do, because you have no idea what to do.

You need to let the Wisdom of God become your mind and the Fire of God become your heart! You need to sell out and count your feelings and thoughts no more as your own! You say, “Well, how does this keep me from offense?” Because there is nothing to defend anymore! You’re not coming up with your things and ideas. If there’s nothing you’re making any more, there’s nothing to defend. And the stuff that does come out of you now is no longer necessary to defend because it’s His!

There’s no more past! There’s no more self! Nothing to defend, because you’re dead! You live for nothing except Christ and the Kingdom! And the Kingdom carries its own line of defense!

To be dead to the World is to be alive in Him! And when there’s nothing to defend, there’s nothing to be offended about.

Father, let us abort our offenses by jumping on that cross and dying to self! When we get offended, let us realize that we have more dying to do. That we would no longer live, but Christ would live and defend himself within us by the Power of God! Let offense die! Let our flesh die! And we shall no longer defend ourselves, but He will be our great defender!
